STEP 1 – CHOOSE YOUR ISSUE
Family & Social Problems were the most frequent reason children contacted the Childline Helpline from 2020–2025, accounting for 25.6% of contacts.
What would change if children felt more understood, supported and respected by the people around them?
Health & Psychosocial Well-being accounted for 19.5% of Childline Helpline contacts from 2020–2025.
What would change if children had the support and safe spaces they need to cope and thrive?
Abuse accounted for 19.7% of Childline Helpline contacts from 2020–2025.
What would change if every child could feel safe, be heard and be protected?
High-Risk Behaviours accounted for 11.7% of Childline Helpline contacts from 2020–2025.
What could change to help children feel safe enough to speak up, reach out and get support?
STEP 2 – Create
Finished choosing one issue from the four competition areas? Perfect! now create something that shows:
1. WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Show us the problem you want to change.
2. WHAT SHOULD BE DIFFERENT?
Show us the change you want to see.
3. EXPRESS THE IDEA
Your entry can be a drawing, painting, digital artwork, photograph, poem, story, song, skit, performance, video, sculpture, model, stop-motion, craft, installation — or something completely original.
For Example
Family and Social Problems (e.g. parent child-communication issues, peer issues)
Show a child feeling unheard at home → then show what being listened to could look like.
Health and Psychosocial Well-being (e.g. depression, loneliness, anxiety)
Show a child dealing with stress, worry or pressure → then show what support and a safe space could look like.
Abuse (e.g. physical, sexual, emotional abuse & neglect)
Show what it feels like when a child does not feel safe → then show what safety, protection and being believed could look like.
High-Risk Behaviours (e.g. suicidal thoughts, self-harm, drug abuse)
Show what might make a child feel overwhelmed or unable to cope → then show what could help them feel safe enough to speak up and get support.
