About the Programme

  • This programme begins on May 6th, 2023 and runs for five (5) consecutive Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM
  • Each participant is asked to contribute $1500 in order to participate in the programme. Participants can make their contributions in two installments of $750 or make a full contribution of $1500
  • The deadline for full registration and contribution is April 30th, 2023
  • A maximum of 16 participants can register for this programme
  • The practical component of the course will run from June to August 2023. Each participant must complete 20 hours of in-office training during this period (4 hours by 5 days)
  • Certificates will be provided upon the successful completion of practical and theoretical training

  • This is an in-person training programme that will be held at ChildLine’s office in the vicinity of Four Roads, Diego Martin

• Introduction to the Package of Laws and Legislation Pertaining to the Care and Protection of Children and Youths in Trinidad and Tobago
• Selected Topics on Issues Affecting Children and Youths
• Types of Helpline Intervention
• Key Techniques in Helpline Counselling
• Introduction to Case and Call Management
• Case Conferencing, Referral Services, and Advocating on Behalf of Children and Youths

Course activities

• Understanding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Trinidad and Tobago Children Act
• Case Study Discussions on Crimes Against Children and Youths
• Determining Categories of Phone Calls
• Call Simulations and Data Entry for Active Listeners
• Group Presentation

Practical training 

• Use of the Call/Case Management Software, Client Relationship Management (CRM)
• Helpline Skills and Protocol
• Use of the ChildLine Referral Database
• Reporting and Recording Procedures

  • Contributions made are non-refundable. If participants are unable to attend the workshop after sending a contribution, ChildLine policies will allow them to keep their contribution as credit to be used with any other training, programme or course that requires a contribution.
