My journey with ChildLine began in 2011 as a volunteer helpline active listener—a role that, over the course of eight years, profoundly shaped my understanding of the challenges faced by children and youth. This experience opened my eyes to the daily struggles many children and youth endure and ignited a deep commitment in me to support their right to protection and psychosocial support.

When the opportunity to serve as Programme Manager, and later as Programme Coordinator, arose, I embraced the role with a deep sense of duty and commitment. Since then, I have led several initiatives with the aim of expanding ChildLine’s reach and impact, including the extension of direct outreach in rural and underserved communities nationwide, the launch of our 24/7 text messaging support, and the development of mental health awareness campaigns focused on boys and young men. Notably, I spearheaded two key programmes: the “Preparation for Leaving Programme” and the “Improving Life Chances Programme,” both designed to equip vulnerable and at-risk adolescent boys with essential life and social skills. My involvement on several national committees—including those addressing child labour and mental health—ensures that children’s needs and voices are represented at the policy level. Through this work, I remain committed to strengthening ChildLine’s role as a reliable and transformative support system for children and youth across Trinidad and Tobago.

My mission has always been, and continues to be, to advocate for the rights and well-being of children and youth in Trinidad and Tobago. I am committed to understanding and responding to their evolving needs, particularly in the context of technology, social media, and other innovative and contemporary means of engagement. Serving as Programme Coordinator is both an honour and a responsibility I hold with deep respect. I remain dedicated to this work with unwavering drive and a focused mind.
